Please help my dear friend Cindy Jones continue to shine while living with terminal cancer! Cindy has enriched the lives of thousands of people with her work at colleges, contributing tirelessly towards students’ success and her ongoing dedication to creative expression. Cindy is my best friend. We first met over 30 years ago when Cindy was my boss. We have seen each other through many of life’s ups and down, too numerous to mention. This is Cindy and I walking the highwire in 2016.


Cindy was diagnosed with Stage IV Breast Cancer in 2018 with severe spreading into her spine and hips, affecting her mobility. Her first Oncologist provided a grim prognosis of a 50% chance of living two years. For those of us that know Cindy, we were not surprised when she fired that Oncologist and found another through her friend Joann. With cutting edge testing and treatments, Dr. Michael Castro saved her life and provided a more hopeful prognosis. In addition, weekly therapies such as IV vitamin infusions and hyperbaric oxygen sessions have counteracted the side effects of cancer treatments and have allowed Cindy to have the energy to continue working for the past three years. I am so impressed with her persistence in the face of an uncertain future.  Cindy has loved her job as a Marketing Specialist for a local community college and is very lucky to have had medical insurance that covers most of the cost of her $60,000 per month treatment. Keeping this medical insurance is critical to her survival.


Conditions now dictate that Cindy permanently leave her job on April 16, 2021 and file for disability benefits. Without the income from her job, financial help is needed to maintain her medical insurance, co-pays and basic living expenses.

I have had the pleasure of watching her daughter, Bailey, grow up into a wonderful young woman, who will be attending University in the Fall. Cindy hopes to be able to continue living near her daughter for as much time as she has left.


I have worked with Cindy to figure out a minimal budget for maintaining her treatment. The unfortunate reality is that funds are inadequate for her survival. Cindy would never ask for donations on her own, so I am reaching out to the community on her behalf. To continue treating her cancer it is essential to maintain her health insurance, cover copays and living expenses as she settles into a greatly reduced disability income.
