Hi everyone, I’m setting this up for my dear friend Anna (Cacau), a Brazilian woman living in Australia. She’s one of the most selfless, compassionate people I know — working as a support worker and studying Community Services while caring for others with real dedication.

Right now, Anna needs our help.

Her mother in Brazil has just been diagnosed with lung cancer. She weighs only 35kg and is incredibly unwell. Anna is her only surviving child — her father and all her siblings have passed away — and her mum has been through more than most can imagine. She raised six kids, including Anna, and played a huge role in helping raise Anna’s son, who is now 19 and trying to cope back in Brazil.

Anna came to Australia with the dream of building a better future for her son and giving her mum the life she never had. But her situation is tough: she’s on a student visa, which limits how much she can work and how long she can leave the country.

She’s now trying to:

• Cover travel costs to go back and forth between Australia and Brazil

• Support her mother and son financially during this difficult time

• Spend precious time with her mum while she still can

Because she’s the main provider for her family, Anna can’t afford to stop working for long. But not being there for her mother right now is heartbreaking.
