Planting the Seeds for a Love of Learning!

Hello,
I’m Teacher Wilson, a creative educator that provides hands-on experiences for learners whenever possible. I’ve been working in education since 2013 in all kinds of roles—supporting students, guiding learning, and helping kids believe in themselves. This year, I’m starting an exciting new chapter and transitioning from teaching upper elementary students to teaching first grade!
First graders are curious, creative, and full of big ideas. They’re at such an important stage in life, and I want to make sure they have everything they need to learn, explore, and grow.
Here’s the challenge: I serve mostly lower-income families and our district has been impacted by federal funding cuts, and my classroom is teacher-funded. I am unfortunately not in a position to purchase all of the materials for my new first grade classroom and that’s why I’m asking for your help.
Your generosity will help me provide:
- A first grade appropriate, inclusive, multicultural classroom library – so every child can see themselves and others in the stories we read
- STEM manipulatives – for hands-on building, problem-solving, and creative thinking
- Literacy & math center activities – plus organizational materials for small group and independent learning
- Science tools – including a digital microscope
- Terrarium/class garden materials – so we can watch ecosystems and life cycles in real time
- A Calm Corner – with SEL tools to help students manage emotions and build executive function skills
- ️ Everyday essentials – like color printer ink, glue, reusable whiteboard paper, sticky anchor chart paper, construction paper, card stock, writing utensils, and supplies for students who need them
- ️ A Classic Royal Reading & Writing Rolling Cart– to keep our space organized and ready for learning
- A reliable teacher laptop – my current computer is over 10 years old and struggles to run the programs I use for lesson planning, instructional materials, and communicating with families. If we surpass our main funding goal, I would love to replace it so I can better serve my students.
How you can help:
Every contribution—whether it’s $5, $10, $25, or $100—brings me closer to creating the kind of classroom kids deserve. Donations will make a lasting impact on students' lives this year and beyond.
With much love and gratitude,
Teacher Wilson
