Today I found myself facing an emergency I wasn't prepared for.

I run a small in-home ferret rescue and sanctuary, caring for ferrets who have been abandoned, neglected, surrendered, or simply needed someone willing to take on their medical and lifelong care.

My ferret is very sick and in significant pain. At his checkup just last month, his spleen was normal and these masses were not present. Today, multiple masses were found, and his spleen has become extremely enlarged in just one month. He might need surgery, and I am trying to get him the care he needs as quickly as possible.

Today's emergency has already cost me around $2,000. I used money that was set aside for my bills because when one of my animals is hurting, I can't simply wait.

And unfortunately, he isn't the only one who needs surgery or care.

Another one of my ferrets has a tumor on her neck that also needs to be removed. I've been forced to keep pushing her surgery back as one emergency after another has taken priority. I don't want to keep delaying her care, especially now that another ferret is facing such a serious and unexpected situation.

I normally cover my ferrets' medical expenses myself. I work and do everything I can to provide for them, but the last few months have brought an exhausting string of veterinary visits, testing, emergency care, medications, and now multiple surgeries. The expenses have reached a point where I need help.

I'm hoping to raise as much as possible to help cover his emergency surgery and treatment, her tumor removal, today's emergency expenses, and the veterinary care and follow-up these cases will require.

These aren't expenses I can simply put off until things are better financially. They are animals who are hurting and need care now.
