Hello, my name is Brooke and I am starting this fundraiser to help my dad pay for his cancer treatments. In July of 2021, my family and I had to make the trip back to our old home in Vermont in order to finish packing our things and finalize our move to Michigan. During this process we noticed that my father was slowing down and was losing his ability to finish even the simplest of tasks without his heart racing. By mid-December, after a month of feeling this way, my father made the decision to see a doctor. However, with little availability and his condition getting worse, he ended up going to the emergency room. Later that night we got the call that my father has leukemia.

Due to Covid my father was and is still unable to come home while he receives treatment. In addition to chemotherapy, my father has required multiple blood transfusions due to being severely anemic, and as well, multiple bone biopsies. Of course, all these procedures add up, leaving us with a hefty and ever-growing medical bill to pay which leads me to creating this fundraiser. My family and I humbly ask for your help to alleviate the stress of these medical bills and allow us to continue to support my father through this very confusing and stressful time.

My father is a loving and compassionate man who strives to do his best for others but more importantly for his family. My father has worked hard in life to support my mother with her lupus diagnosis and treatment, various surgeries, and chronic depression which have left her unable to work a regular 9 to 5. He is a very proud Marine Corp veteran and ex-border patrol agent. He is intelligent and incredibly funny, not a day goes by he doesn’t make me laugh. But most importantly, my father is the glue that holds my family together. Not having our pillar of strength home for the holiday season has been a real challenge for us, especially since we had to leave and go back to Michigan without him. My father has taken care of my family for years and now, with your help, we need to take care of him.

So please, if you are able and willing to give anything my family and I would greatly appreciate it. We just want my dad to get the treatment he needs and come home without worrying about the costs.
