Help My Father Through This Difficult Time

Hi, my name is Marihen Giménez, and I’m reaching out in one of the most vulnerable moments of my life. Those who know me, know that I have always hesitated to ask for help, keeping that for moments when I truly have no other option—like now.

My father, Henry Giménez, is alone in Medellín, Colombia, facing urgent surgery for an umbilical hernia with obstruction. He was recently referred to the hospital due to the risk of complications. On top of this, he also suffers from arthritis in his knees, which makes it difficult for him to walk, and he now relies on a cane. He is also diabetic and suffers from high cholesterol, adding to the complexity of his recovery.

He can no longer work, and as his only family, I am doing everything I can to support him from the Netherlands, but sadly, I cannot be there with him during this urgent time. The emotional strain of this distance is overwhelming, and the financial burden is more than I can handle alone.

My father is not just the man who raised me—he’s a former director and professor of his beloved theater and arts academy, Arriba el Telón, in Venezuela. He dedicated his life to inspiring others, especially through his comedic theater plays and TV sketches, always sharing his passion for making people laugh. Those who know him will tell you he’s always smiling, even in the face of adversity.

In recent years, my father has been living in Colombia due to the difficult situation in Venezuela, where the lack of basic services and medicine forced many Venezuelans, including him, to leave their homeland. He now needs help more than ever.

Although his surgery is covered by social security, we are facing significant expenses for his recovery and daily care, which we cannot afford. I’m raising funds to cover the following for at least the next three months:

Ayuda a mi papá en este momento tan difícil

Hola, mi nombre es Marihen Giménez, y estoy escribiendo en uno de los momentos más vulnerables de mi vida. Las personas que me conocen saben que siempre me ha costado pedir ayuda, reservándola para cuando realmente no me queda otra opción, como ahora.

Mi papá, Henry Giménez, está solo en Medellín, Colombia, enfrentando una cirugía urgente por hernia umbilical con obstrucción. Hace poco fue remitido de emergencia debido al riesgo de complicaciones, y a esto se suma la artrosis en sus rodillas, que le dificulta moverse y lo obliga a usar un bastón. Además, es diabético y tiene el colesterol alto, lo que complica aún más su recuperación.

Ya no puede trabajar debido a su estado de salud, y como soy su única familia, estoy haciendo todo lo posible por apoyarlo desde los Países Bajos, donde vivo, pero lamentablemente no puedo estar a su lado en este momento tan urgente. La distancia ha sido devastadora emocionalmente, y la carga financiera es algo que simplemente no puedo manejar sola.

Mi papá no es solo el hombre que me crió, también es un exdirector y profesor de su amada academia de teatro y artes escénicas, Arriba el Telón, en Venezuela. Dedicó su vida a inspirar a los demás, especialmente a través de obras de teatro cómico y sketches de televisión, siempre compartiendo su pasión por hacer reír a la gente. Quienes lo conocen te dirán que siempre tiene una sonrisa en el rostro, incluso ante la adversidad.

En los últimos años, mi papá ha estado viviendo en Colombia debido a la difícil situación en Venezuela, donde la falta de servicios básicos y medicamentos obligó a muchos venezolanos, incluido él, a abandonar su país. Ahora necesita más ayuda que nunca.

Lo que necesitamos:

Aunque su cirugía está cubierta por la seguridad social, estamos enfrentando gastos significativos para su recuperación y cuidado diario, los cuales no podemos costear.
