My father has always been a strong and caring presence in our family, but over the past few years, his health has taken a serious turn. He has been living with lupus and rheumatoid arthritis, which already made daily life a challenge. Recently, things became much more difficult when he got very sick and had to be rushed to the hospital. He spent five days in the ICU, where doctors discovered he had pneumonia, a septic infection, and had suffered a heart attack. They ran dozens of tests to try to stabilize him and give him the best chance at recovery.

The medical bills from his hospital stay are overwhelming, and he needs ongoing medications to manage his chronic conditions. Unfortunately, my father has been struggling to keep a job because his health keeps him from working long enough to get insurance. Without insurance, we simply can't afford the doctors or the medications he needs. Our family is doing everything we can, but we can't do it alone.
