[UPDATED 29.08]
After a medical evaluation on August 27th, my father underwent a carotid artery angioplasty. Following this procedure, the doctors recommended that he urgently undergo surgery.
In Brazil, we rely on the public healthcare system (SUS – Sistema Único de Saúde). Unfortunately, the system is very slow and waiting lists for critical procedures are extremely long. The expectation for my Father's surgery is between three and six months.
Thanks to your generosity, the first donations have already been received (414 CHF). However, we still need to raise 4,500 CHF. The updated goal is to cover the cost of the carotid artery surgery, which is estimated at around 30,000 BRL (approximately 4,500 CHF at today’s exchange rate). Sadly, this amount is far beyond what my family can afford.
At the moment, my father’s condition is stable, but he is at serious risk of suffering another stroke. According to the doctor, there is even a risk of death if the surgery is not performed urgently.
Below, I have shared a little more about his journey so far. My family and I are deeply grateful for your support — every contribution makes a difference. I truly believe we will reach the goal of this campaign and give my father the chance to enjoy life again with his grandchildren and wife.
Thank you very much, again and again.

My father, a 61-year-old truck driver, has always been a hardworking man, providing for our family in Brazil. Recently, our lives changed completely when he suffered three strokes, (two while at work on 24/07; and 29/07 at home - a more severe).
The consequences have been devastating:
- He has lost his ability to speak.
- The right side of his body is paralyzed.
- He now depends entirely on others for his daily needs.
I am his son, a student, and my mother—who suffered a stroke 19 years ago—cannot physically care for him. My sister is pregnant and also unable to assist. We urgently need a caregiver so that my father can receive the attention and dignity he deserves.
I am raising 10,000 CHF to help cover my father’s urgent needs and provide long-term support for his treatment, therapy, and daily care. Here is how the funds will be used:
One-time needs:
Adapted bed and proper mattress – R$ 5,000
Wheelchair – R$ 3,000
Special shower/toilet chair – R$ 2,000
Monthly expenses:
Speech therapist (4x per week) – R$ 3,000
Physical therapist (4x per week) – R$ 5,000
Caregiver – R$ 4,000
Food – R$ 1,500
Medication – R$ 1,000
Our home is not wheelchair-accessible, so part of the funds will also go toward basic adaptations to allow him to move safely.
Before the strokes, my father earned the minimum salary in Brazil (about R$ 1,600/month, approx CHF 256.-). Now, without the ability to work, we are struggling to meet even the most basic care costs.
Any contribution, no matter the amount, will help give my father the care, therapy, and dignity he needs during this challenging journey. Your generosity will make a life-changing difference for him and our family.
From the bottom of our hearts—thank you.
The Brazilian government has a program called O Programa Melhor em Casa. It is an initiative that offers home care for patients who need continuous attention, avoiding prolonged hospital stays and promoting comfort and recovery in a family environment. It is aimed at people whose illness has worsened and who, due to temporary or permanent limitations, cannot travel to a health facility. The initial fundraising goal was reduced, giving us time to seek assistance from the government to provide my father with a better quality of life.
