I am reaching out today with a heavy heart to ask for support for my father, who was recently diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. This news has been devastating for our family. Because of the location and nature of the cancer, surgery is unfortunately not an option as the risks are too high. His only path forward is an aggressive schedule of chemotherapy and radiation. While my father is a fighter, the stress of this diagnosis is being compounded by a very difficult financial situation. Both of my parents are currently without an income, and as a single mother, I have been doing everything in my power to support them on my own. However, with the rising costs of medical care, daily essentials, and the basic cost of living, I can no longer bridge the gap by myself. We want my father’s only focus to be on his health and completing his treatments, but the weight of having no household income is making an already traumatic time even more stressful.
