My name is Amanda van Zyl, and I am raising funds for my father, Jan Kleinhans, who has been diagnosed with Stage 4 oral cancer in South Africa.

I live in Australia, while my father is in the Free State, where he is currently a state patient at Universitas Hospital in Bloemfontein.

My father has no medical aid and was forced to leave his job due to his illness, leaving him without any income.

His condition has now worsened significantly. The cancer has spread to the bottom of his jawbone. The tumour has broken open, causing severe pain and a high risk of infection. His teeth are being removed due to the extent of the spread.

A CT scan is scheduled for 5 March, after which he will be admitted to hospital for 37 days of intensive chemotherapy and radiation treatment. This will be an incredibly difficult and physically demanding period, and he will require constant medical support.

How the funds will be used: I will personally collect and manage all funds raised and ensure they are used solely for my father’s medical care, including:

• Oncology and specialist consultations

• Chemotherapy and radiation-related costs

• Cancer medication not available via the state

• Pain management and infection treatment

• Transport to and from treatment facilities

• Essential living support during treatment, as the treatment center is not close to home.

Wherever possible, payments will be made directly to doctors, pharmacies, and medical facilities to ensure full transparency and accountability.
