My name is Devin Twitty, and I am reaching out for help for my father Roy Twitty and brother Ryan Twitty who recently became homeless. My father suffers from cancer, and both of them suffer from chronic autoimmune health conditions, which have made it difficult for them to maintain stable employment and housing.
Due to unforeseen circumstances, they became homeless due to cancer bills for my father after chemotherapy and radiation, high medical costs over the years, and are now struggling to afford medical treatment, and cover basic living expenses. Our mother passed away in 2002 when Ryan was 15 years old, and I was 12. Since then, our father has raised us as a single parent while trying to juggle finances and health conditions. My father is a Veteran, and served for six years of Active Duty and eight years in the Reserves with the United States Navy during the Korean War. While he raised Ryan and I, he served as a Permanent Deacon in the Catholic Church for over 25 years and touched countless lives through his ministry.
My brother, Ryan, was working as a ramp agent at San Francisco Airport while studying to become an airline pilot, when he was exposed to a hazmat chemical spill on the tarmac. Shortly after that, his autoimmune condition took effect, and he has been 80% bed-bound for the last 13 years.
