Hi,
My name is Alex, and my family and I recently found out that our cat, Ray, has been struggling with major health complications. He has been struggling with urination problems as of late, and a trip to the vet made it much more serious than we initially thought.
Veterinarians ran tests on his kidneys, and the results were far worse than expected. He is severely hyperkalemic (high potassium levels), and conditions like this can be extremely complicated and very costly. According to our veterinarians, there may be complete or partial blockages of his urinary tract. Hyperkalemia and other kidney issues can go easily undetected. It can lead to weakness, lethargy, and loss of appetite, which are all things that my family and I observed in Ray's recent behaviour.
With that being said, the accumulation of potassium in his kidneys could be life-threatening, and there is not much time to act to help his condition.
After receiving the results, veterinarians mentioned that we can expect a 2-3x increase from our initial invoice. This may range from $4000—$6000.
For our beloved Ray, I'd pay any amount to save him, but we do not have the amount we were quoted, which has proven to be far outside of our budget. Procedures and complications like this are something we had not prepared for, and I shoulder the responsibility of neglecting the possibility of such complications occurring.
If you, or anyone you may know, could find any grace to help my family and me out, please do. Spread the word and share with anyone who would be interested in helping.
To my family and me, Ray is everything to us. He was our first ever cat. He wakes us up extra early every morning to be fed. He's talkative. He's a goofball. He has the funniest cat personality that I have ever seen. He's smart and witty. He's sly and cunning at times. He sits when we give him treats. He meows back at us when we talk to him. And most importantly, if the photos haven't convinced you, he is extremely cute.
To close off, I would like to thank you for taking the time to read this and sparing the time of your day to concern my family's matter. If you are still reading this, thank you. And if possible, help in any way that you are able to. If you could spare anything, and I mean anything, it would be much appreciated. Even a dollar could go a long way.
Kind regards,
Alex.
