Help Adrianna with her Heart Arrhythmia
Donation protected
I have decided to share my story and I would be more than willing to elaborate on it to those who would like to know more since this is already pretty long.
My name is Adrianna Kalakone and I have Sinus Tachycardia which essentially means I have an irregularly high heartrate. I usually range from 100-160. I know I had just made a GoFundMe but this one is soley based on me. My health has gotten worse and after finally opening up about it after 2 years of hiding it from close friends, they are begging me to get the help I need. As everyone knows, I absolutely HATE asking for help. But my health has come to the point where it is life or death.
I first started getting sick December 16th but I didn't think anything of it and thought it was merely a cold, but then I started getting the same symptoms from whenever I found out about my heart but worse. My symptoms involve coldness throughout my whole body, major sharp chest pain, memory loss, and spacing out. The neurological symptoms have never been treated whenever I first found out about my heart condition 2 years ago. However, whenever I went, they told me that it's rare for girls my age to have my condition and they are unsure of how to treat it since usually people ages 60-70 have what I have. The cardiologist mentioned a scarier option of doing open heart surgery but it's risky and it might not even work (I just heard this from patients I have had and had the same surgery but they are like 60-70s). Essentially the cardiologist told me I have a few years to live at most with this condition untreated.
The week after I have been in and out of my head a lot more than usual. December 23rd to be exact, I was driving to work and I spaced out and people usually space out and can still drive but this was BAD. I literally drove straight onto the curb and I was just driving. I didn't come to until someone flashed their lights at me. I know it's been long overdue of me going back to see the doctor but I had already accepted my fate a couple years ago. December 27th, I went to the ER and I was there for a total of 14 hours. I basically did a LOT of bloodwork, an X-ray on my chest, they had took another vial of blood and then did a CT scan of my brain and my chest with contrast. The only result they gave me was that they didn't see anything in my CT scan of my chest because I was moving a lot but there were no blood clots in my heart which is good. Other than that, they said I need to see my cardiologist to go over the other results which could take a weeks to months because that's how Parkland is. They also refilled my medication to take until I see the cardiologist and to see if symptoms are there still and they told me no more driving. I also have been released from both of my jobs and I will be need to be cleared by a cardiologist or neurologist. The morning after the ER called me to say they sent a referral for me to get a mammogram because they found something in my left breast that is concerning and would like me to get it checked out.
December 29th, I went to see the neurologist I worked for to go over all my labwork and he said he would like me to do scans and other tests on the brain so we can figure out my black outs and memory loss. We are trying to rule out strokes and dementia; even though I'm so young we want to be sure. He is aware that it's expensive and mentioned that whenever I had the money he would be able to help me out. He did also mention he can give me a discount but it will be sort of expensive still, the routine EEG at the clinic would be $300 and the 3 day video EEG at home will be $1000. I will also need MRIs of my brain and chest but I am also unsure of those costs. An insurance agent he provided me helped me get a really cheap insurance that starts roughly the next week or two but I still have the meet the $2k deductible so once I do that hopefully insurance can cover most of the surgery and my future medical appointments.
From doctor's orders, I am now homebound, not allowed to drive, released from work until I am cleared and healthier to go back. I am asking for assistance on helping pay for my future appointments and surgery.
CT Scans + MRIs ≈ $500/each
EEGs ≈ $1300
Surgery ≈ Unknown currently.
My goal is realistically $5000 which just mainly adds up future medical appointments and upcoming surgery. I do appreciate everyone who read through this fully and is supporting. I'm forever thankful for everyone who was willing to listen and lend a hand.
