My name is Mohammed Nader Fakhri Al-Khodary, and I am Mahmoud’s father. I am sharing with you today the story of my son and his family, a story of suffering, resilience, and hope in the face of unimaginable challenges in Gaza.

My granddaughter, Leen, is only five years old, a child trying to survive circumstances far beyond her capacity to endure. For more than a year, my son’s family has been living under the constant shadow of war and destruction. They have been displaced more than ten times, surrounded multiple times, and forced to flee under the bombardment of aircraft and tanks in search of a safe place. But the harsh truth is that there is no safe place here in northern Gaza.

Not long ago, my son’s family lived a stable and happy life. They had a warm home, a close-knit family, friends, and meaningful work. But now, they have lost everything. Their home was destroyed, and they were left with only the clothes they managed to carry. Mahmoud and his wife were injured during the war. For more than a year, they have been living in northern Gaza, unable to access even basic necessities. Chicken, meat, and vegetables have become distant memories. They were forced to eat tree leaves and animal feed, and now their meals are limited to bread with a little salt or thyme, or sometimes just plain bread.

As a father and grandfather, it is heartbreaking to witness their suffering. I urge you to help my son and his family escape this nightmare, to save their lives and give them a chance to rebuild their lives in a safe place. The cost of escaping this devastated land and securing their future is very high, but it is their only hope.
