My family and I just relocated to Dallas in December of 2024, hoping for a fresh start and stability. We only moved into our apartment a little over a month and a half ago, and we are still getting settled. Unfortunately, the ongoing government shutdown has hit us hard with our food aid source being paused. Food is already sky high and I was budgeting with what I was getting from the government in assistance.

With the holidays approaching, I am faced with an impossible choice: pay our bills or put food on the table for my children. My children mean everything to me and I am doing my best to shield them from the stress of this situation... but the reality is that without support, we may go hungry or face serious housing instability.

It’s not easy to reach out, but right now, we need a helping hand to make it through this difficult time. Any contribution, big or small, can help us have a safe and warm home, enough to eat, and some peace of mind during the holidays. Sharing this story also helps spread awareness of families like mine who are silently struggling due to circumstances beyond our control.
