I am Rewaa Khairy from Gaza.

Before the war, my life was full of hope and ambition. I was a medical student, studying passionately to achieve my dream of becoming a doctor and easing people’s pain. We lived a simple and peaceful life. My father ran a small restaurant that provided for our family, and our home was filled with love and stability.

Then the war came… and in a single moment, everything changed.

My father and my brother were killed before my eyes when our home was bombed and destroyed over our heads. We lost not only our house, but also our memories, our savings, and our only source of income. Today, we live in a fragile tent that cannot protect us from the heat or the cold. There are days when we have no food and no clean water.

My mother, who was the pillar and strength of our family, developed a serious heart condition. Her health is getting worse day after day, and she urgently needs proper medical care that we simply cannot access. My brother Mohammad, who suffers from cerebral palsy, requires constant, specialized care. He cannot depend on himself and needs medication, physical therapy, and diapers that we struggle to provide. Because we are forced to use contaminated water due to the lack of clean water, my brother has also developed a kidney disease, which has added even more pain and suffering to his life. He now needs additional treatment that we cannot afford.

My younger sisters, Heba and Ne’ma, are still just children. My baby sister Fatima has known nothing but fear and the sound of explosions since she was born. Every day, I look at them and feel the heavy responsibility on my shoulders. I am now the only provider and caregiver for my family, trying to be their source of safety after they lost everything.

I was also injured during the war and still suffer from the effects of my injury without proper treatment. The pain is constant, but my fear for my mother and siblings is far greater than my own suffering.

We did not just lose our home — we lost all our savings and everything we owned. My dream of completing my medical studies feels so far away now. My only focus is saving my mother’s life, caring for my sick brother, and providing the most basic necessities for my little sisters.

We are not asking for luxury — only a chance for treatment, clean water, food to survive, and hope to keep going.

My story is not just numbers or headlines. It is the life of a family fighting every single day to stay alive.
