Hello everyone, my name is Logan Luce. I’m a married 25 year old father of 3 and a journeyman lineman. I was recently diagnosed with central osteosarcoma and had urgent surgery to remove it. This is the second surgery I’ve had for this condition but the first time it was mis diagnosed as a Giant cell tumor. The first surgery put me at risk of recurrence and migration of the cancer and it in fact did come back. They removed half of my tibia and my distal femur. They also had to cut half of my calf muscle and rotate it to the front of my leg in hopes that my patellar tendon would survive the surgery and I would be able to walk again. If the tendon fails my options come down to amputation or fusing my leg. Aside from the osteosarcoma they found 2 tumors in my brain and 2 nodules in my lungs. The doctors are not sure weather or not they’re related to the osteosarcoma or if they’re something separate. Due to the nature of the tumor I was told to stop working at the end of September prior to my surgery on October 18th. The surgery has left me disabled and unable to work for the foreseeable future. The surgeon estimates about a year if things go perfectly. I’ve worked extremely hard to provide for my family and build the life we had but Unfortunately my savings have run out and the short term disability insurance is only enough to cover my mortgage. I’ve applied for every program I can through the state and federal governments but have had no success. If you know me you know I hate asking people for anything but I have to swallow my pride and put my family first.
