I grew up as a military brat stationed in northern Virginia, and after my family moved to Kentucky, life became even more challenging. I’ve lost close family and friends, and my support system has grown smaller. My mother, who was my backbone, has passed away, and I don’t have a father willing to step in. Although my biological family helped raise me later in life, there’s been tension and distance. We’ve never been wealthy, but I’ve always tried to create a loving, comfortable home for my children.
Recently, everything changed. My youngest child is facing a self-defense/murder charge after being bullied in our home, and I’m deeply sorry for the pain this has caused to everyone involved. Just yesterday, our home was shot up—there was a bullet in every room except mine and my children’s. By some miracle, we were unharmed, but the trauma is overwhelming. As the police arrived, I saw a laser beam pointed at me, and the person responsible ran off. I know who did it, but I have no way to prove it. Living in Louisville has brought more pain than peace, and my children and I have faced more trauma for being kind than anything else.
We have family in South Carolina and a chance to start over. I need help moving us there so we can eat, have a safe place to stay, and cover first and last months’ rent. The funds will go toward a U-Haul big enough for our home, a trailer for my vehicle, hotel fees for at least two weeks, and essentials like gas and food. For some, this might be just another move, but for us, it’s a chance to heal and rebuild. Any support, big or small, will help us find safety and hope again. Thank you for caring about our family’s future.
