Hi, my name is Shams and I am based in Australia. I have uploaded this post with the hopes of supporting my cousin and his family to safely leave Gaza. Below is a message written by my cousin Amr Eneim.

Hello everyone,

With the recent spread of donation websites for the people of Gaza, helping them escape the horrors of war and the suffering of life in Gaza such as the GoFundMe website. I find myself sending this message in hopes of support to get me and my family out of the Gaza Strip.

We are a family of 5: myself, my wife, and our three children. The eldest is Ahmed, 13 years old, then Mariam, 10 years old, and the youngest, Amir, 3 years old. Our struggles began after our home was hit on 8/11/2023, and our journey of displacement began, moving from place to place where we couldn't settle.

The hardship started in Khan Younis, then we moved to Rafah after a month, and the struggle continues to this day. Our decision to leave Gaza wasn't just about leaving; it was the unbearable hardships that were taking a toll on us physically and mentally, especially on our children who just want to live in peace and safety.

Imagine simple tasks that used to take five minutes now taking up the whole day. We spend long hours fetching drinking water, long hours fetching water for bathing and washing, and long hours just to get a few loaves of bread. The hardships increase when you sleep in a place with no windows or even a door to close for safety, sleeping on the floor without a proper bed. Months go by without chicken or meat, surviving on canned food whose quality and preparation we're unsure of.

This is not a complaint against God's blessings or a sense of entitlement in the circumstances God has placed us in. But when you have children and see fear in their eyes, your heart breaks. Who among us doesn't wish for our children to live a better life? What about a life with no schools, hospitals, or any form of comfort and leisure?

If life's struggles only affected us adults, we might have endured and never thought of leaving or escaping this ongoing nightmare.

Any amount that helps us get out of here would be a beautiful gesture from you because here we're not just dying from lack of food or water; we're also dying from fear, hopelessness, and a psychological death before a physical one.

The goal is to reach $30,000AUD to register for travel to Egypt through Rafah Crossing and then attempt to seek refuge in any country where life is possible. We've tried to be resilient and patient, but the suffering is immense, and times are truly tough. Each of us has our capacity and endurance, but there comes a time when you lose all reasons for resilience and patience.
