Hi, my name is Naomi, and I am writing this in distress and filled with anxieties. I write this graciously on behalf of my family because they are my world. Knowing they are okay is my driving force at the beginning of every day and end of every night.
This Christmas was supposed to be a time of love and togetherness. After a challenging college semester away, separated 2,300 miles from family, I was graciously able to be with them this season. Their relocation from Virginia to California was for family, and although we have faced constant struggle, we were determined to make this Christmas special.
Despite my mother's ongoing health issues, she has pushed all her physical and mental strength to tirelessly work to keep her and my brother afloat. To put together one day we could thoroughly enjoy each other's love and celebrate my brother’s birthday and a beautiful Christmas together.
For the first time in a very long time, we had a beautiful night together as a family. We laughed, we celebrated, and for a few hours, the weight of our financial hardship felt a little lighter. In our moments of peace together, my mom referred to it as her "day of love and rest".
But that joy was short-lived.
The Accident
On Christmas Day, while we were on the highway, we were involved in a car accident. We are blessed that everyone walked away physically safe. Yet, the emotional and financial toll is devastating. Our car, the one stable and reliable thing we own, was severely damaged and is no longer drivable.
Why We Are Reaching Out
This car was our lifeline.
Without it, my mother cannot get to work. She is the sole provider of my family. Her ability to work is the only thing keeping a roof over her and my younger brother's head.
After years of working hard to pay the car off, we finally own it. "Black Angel" is a part of our family and without her, we lose the glue holding together our stability. Losing our car has intensified the severity of our financial situation, and we do not have the resources to fight this struggle alone. I don't know what to do.
How You Can Help
I am asking for your help to get back our lifeline, our stability, our way out of the dark and back into the light. We are simply trying to survive.
All donations will go directly toward:
- Emergency car repairs, so my mom can return to work.
- Basic living expenses to ensure my family can maintain our basic needs while we navigate this crisis.
Thank you for your empathy and your kindness. Any and all contributions will be received with love. Even just sharing our story, helps support the efforts in keeping my family stable and safe.
