Help My Family Recover After Home Lightning Fire

On April 30th (last night), a lightning storm struck my parents’ home and set it on fire. The entire upstairs was destroyed, and the downstairs now has severe water damage from the efforts to stop the flames.

We’re incredibly thankful they made it out safely— my mom was home alone with our dog and they were able to immediately get out. Their home is no longer livable, and the road ahead is overwhelming!

My beloved mom, Waco Mama Bear, also had to cancel most of her business orders, and much of her workspace and materials were affected in the fire. Her small business is on pause, and that’s a significant part of their income suddenly gone for the foreseeable future.

Insurance will help cover some of the loss but who knows how long that journey will be. They’re now navigating:

Temporary housing

Replacing essentials (clothes, toiletries, towels, etc.)

Furniture (mattresses, bed frames, etc.)

Lost income and business costs

Food & supplies

Security deposit and relocation expenses

We’re raising $25,000 to help cover these urgent needs and support them as they rebuild.

If you’ve ever known my parents, you know how much they have and will continue to pour into others—through their home, their prayers, their work, and their generosity. They've always had an open door policy to create a home for anyone who would need one.
