My kids and I were part of the tragic fire that took place in Georgetown Oaks, Savannah, GA. We lost everything inside our home and now only have two cell phones. The fire happened so quickly, and it was a terrifying experience for all of us. I remember hearing a loud pop noise that woke me up from sleep, and my first instinct was to check on my kids. Even though I didn’t see anything in our apartment, I kept smelling an electrical burning smell. Something told me to look outside, but I didn’t see anything on the balcony or in front of our building. When I looked out the peephole, I couldn’t see much, so I opened the door and saw that our neighbors across the hall had a huge fire in their doorway. I immediately dialed 911 and, with another neighbor, ran to bang on all the doors to alert everyone. No smoke alarms went off, and I’m grateful I was able to help others in such a terrible situation.

Now, my kids and I are left with nothing but each other and two cell phones. The funds raised will go toward replacing our essential needs, including my daughter’s soccer gear and immediate necessities. We are trying to rebuild our lives after losing everything, and any support means the world to us.
