My family’s journey began in 1989 when we left Bolivia and made a new home in the US. My parents worked hard, paid taxes, and raised a family, always striving to contribute to our community. In 2017, we tried to secure their green cards, but after losing their passports during a move, and facing strict immigration policies, our application was denied. The loss of our passports meant that once his current work visa expired, it would be nearly impossible to renew. Even with that, he continued to dedicate himself to an industry he has spent 3 decades in, providing for those in his community. We spent our savings on legal fees, only to be left devastated and uncertain about the future. Despite these setbacks, my father continued working into his seventies, determined to provide for our family. Recently, things became even more difficult. My brother was diagnosed with MS, and my parents, now 70, have been doing their best to care for him. I help as much as I can, but last week my father lost his job. The stress and heartbreak have taken a toll on his mental health, and for the first time, he feels truly lost. After much discussion, we made the difficult decision that my parents and brother will return to Bolivia, a country they haven’t seen in over 36 years, to seek support from family and start over. The funds raised will help cover travel expenses, secure a place to live in Bolivia, and provide medical care for my parents and brother. My parents have always given everything for our family, and now, as they face this daunting transition, I’m asking for your help.
