Within the last 48 hours, both my dad’s and my son’s homes have been devastated by the northern Michigan floods. The waters are still rising, and insurance has declined to cover any of the damages. My dad, a 100% disabled veteran, recently lost his wife and has been relying on my son as his caregiver to help him recover after a series of strokes. He needs physical therapy three days a week, but now he’s been evacuated to a shelter, and his home—including all his PT equipment, a stationary bike, treadmill, oxygen tank, furniture, and personal belongings—has been flooded.

My son and his girlfriend, who live next door to my dad, have also lost everything. We are still unable to assess the full extent of the damage, but we know that both families are facing the loss of their homes and all they own. The funds raised will help with immediate needs like temporary housing, replacing essential medical equipment for my dad, and starting the process of rebuilding both homes. My son and his girlfriend do not have the resources to recover on their own, and we are hoping to restore some stability for both households.
