On Monday, April 14th, 2026, my family’s life changed in an instant. My sister and I were jolted awake by our father’s frantic voice, warning us that our house was on fire. We grabbed the bare essentials and raced downstairs, only to see smoke rising high and panic setting in. Our mom, who is wheelchair bound and has limited mobility, needed immediate help. We managed to get her wheelchair onto the porch, but the situation quickly became more desperate as we heard our parents screaming for help. My sister and I ran outside, calling for our neighbors, and thankfully, one of them responded and called for help. Firefighters arrived quickly, and together with my dad, they were able to get my mom out safely. We are so grateful that everyone made it out, but the fire took everything else. Right now, we’re staying in a hotel, but that’s only a temporary solution. We have nowhere else to go and are facing the daunting task of rebuilding our lives from scratch. The proceeds of this fundraiser will help us secure a new place to live, cover a security deposit, and provide us with clothes, furniture, and other essentials we need to start over.
