Honestly, I’m only on here because we are running out of options.

It feels like one thing after another lately. Starting with Hurricane Milton, our roof was severely damaged. We were on track to replace our manufactured home, but then Jamie’s failing health stopped coming in waves and overwhelmed us like a tsunami. Jamie has battled severe medical conditions for a couple of years; usually, the symptoms would come and go, and she’d feel better for months at a time. But since June 2025, she has been in and out of the hospital and has never really gotten better. I’ve been her full-time caregiver since then and had to stop working to be there with her constantly.

With no income, and living on some FEMA money and dwindling life savings, we couldn't get the loan approval for a new home. Then, on Thursday night, catastrophe struck.

A carelessly discarded cigarette and a slight breeze set some extremely dry grass and a pile of roof debris on fire, leading to the total loss of our home and everything we own.

Thank God we are all okay. Our son was staying at my mom’s house, and his mother is in the hospital. I was just getting ready to go spend the night at the hospital with Jamie when I saw a bright orange glow out of my back window. I ran out to see everything on fire. I managed to run back in to grab my phone and call 911. My neighbors were amazing, checking

n me to make sure I was safe. The fire trucks arrived in minutes, but by then my propane tanks out back had already blown up, and the house was an inferno.

The fire department was fast, but it wasn't enough. The house is a complete loss. We lost everything except the clothes on our backs.

I’m in a bad spot and don't know where to turn. The house had no insurance since it was already totaled from the storm and was paid off in full. We are staying at my mom's house for now, so we are not totally homeless, but it is going to be a long road to get back on our feet and get the property cleaned and ready for a new home.

If you are able to help in any way, we would be forever grateful.
