Tonight, my family lost everything in a devastating house fire. We are a home of four adults, three of whom are disabled, and our beloved pets. My adult son lives with autism, epilepsy, and type two diabetes. I am the primary caregiver for my 73-year-old stepfather, who suffers from dementia. Recently, I learned that I have a lytic lesion on my frontal lobe, and I also struggle with severe depression and several other health conditions. My daughter recently got a promotion at her job with a major airline and does her best to fill the gaps when we fall behind. Despite all of these challenges, we have always tried to support one another and make the best of each day.
On top of everything, our only car has been in the shop for three months, and we have been relying on a loaner vehicle from the dealership while they try to figure out what needs to be fixed. We were trying to save for a new car, but now, after the fire, we are faced with the overwhelming task of finding a new place to live, replacing the essentials we lost, and possibly getting a reliable vehicle. The funds raised will help us secure temporary housing, replace necessary items, and provide care for our family members with disabilities during this difficult time.
We made it out with minimal injury, along with our dogs, but our three cats may have perished in the fire. We are reaching out to our community for help because we cannot do this alone. Any support, no matter how small, would mean the world to us as we try to rebuild our lives after this tragedy. Thank you for reading our story and for considering a donation to help my family get back on our feet.
