My family and I are going through a very difficult time after a fire damaged our home on Christmas Day. We are a family of eight, with five siblings, and we have always kept a candle burning in memory of my grandma who recently passed away. On Christmas Day, the candle accidentally fell and started a fire on the table. My dad, brother, and brother-in-law did everything they could to stop the fire, throwing water and trying to remove the burning table. Despite their efforts, the fire spread quickly, and they had to destroy the rooftop to get the fire under control.

The aftermath has been overwhelming. Our rooftop is badly damaged, and all of our clothes were ruined in the fire. We are struggling to find enough food and clothing for everyone, and the house is not safe to live in right now. It’s been hard to see our home—where we have so many memories—damaged like this, but we are grateful that everyone is safe.
