My family’s life changed overnight when our house caught fire while they were sleeping. I was away at school at VMI when it happened, and I am so grateful that everyone survived. They escaped with only the clothes on their backs, losing everything else in the fire. In a matter of moments, our home, our belongings, and our sense of security were gone. It’s been overwhelming to start over, but we’re holding onto hope and the love we have for each other.

Our household is made up of four adults, a four-year-old girl, and two beloved dogs. Right now, we’re in urgent need of daily essentials and clothing for everyone. We’re also trying to save for a new place to live, so we can begin to rebuild our lives. My dad is doing everything he can to support us, including helping pay for my college at VMI, but the challenges are more than we can handle alone.
