Five years ago, my family and I faced homelessness. I found myself panhandling just to afford motel rooms and food for my wife of 37 years, who is disabled, and our daughter, who worked alongside me to help us get by. We also have two dogs and a cat who needed care and love, even during the hardest times. The stress and uncertainty led me down a difficult path, and I began abusing alcohol. But I am proud to say I have been sober for almost four years now. I worked hard to get my life back on track and eventually found full-time employment. Unfortunately, the damage alcohol caused to my teeth has left me with broken, missing, and rotting teeth. Despite going to many interviews, I haven't been able to secure a job because of my appearance. I received a quote for dental work, but the cost is far beyond what we can afford right now.
If I can get my dental work done, I am confident I can secure a job within 30 days. We are currently two months behind on rent, our electricity is at risk of being shut off, and both our vehicles need repairs and inspections to stay on the road. Having stable employment would allow us to catch up on bills and bring peace of mind to my family. Your support would not only help me regain my confidence and ability to work, but it would also help us keep our home and provide for our pets.
The world is full of good people, and every time we've been in trouble, strangers have shown up for us. God is great, and even though things are tough, they could always be worse. If we receive this help, I know I will spend time crying and thanking the Lord and everyone who supports us. Once we are back on our feet, I promise to pay it forward and share the love we've received. Sincerely, Mike J
