My name is Barbara, and I’m reaching out for help for my family. My husband is a disabled veteran, and together we’ve worked as certified nursing aides, always doing our best to care for others. Despite working long hours—sometimes over 140 hours in a pay period—we’ve struggled to make ends meet. We couldn’t afford insurance for our vehicle, and after being pulled over late at night, my husband lost his license and his job as a medical transport driver. We had to pay a ticket and now face much higher insurance costs, which are more than our car payment ever was.
We’ve faced setback after setback. We lost our truck after paying off a large loan to fix the transmission, and now we’re worried about losing our RV, which is our home. We’ve paid on it for three years, but with only a small amount left, we’re scared we could lose it and become homeless. We’ve tried to get help from local organizations, but haven’t had any luck. Recently, my husband went viral on TikTok and I’m kind of scared of the backlash we might get from it, which has only added to our stress and uncertainty.
We live paycheck to paycheck, and even a small ticket could put us on the street. Any help we receive will go directly to paying our bills—especially our electric bill—and helping us keep our home. Just a penny would mean the world to me, just to see that someone cares. Thank you for reading our story and considering helping us during this difficult time.
