My name is James, and I am a United States Air Force veteran, a husband, and a father to a wonderful seven-year-old son. In October 2024, I was diagnosed with stage 4 small cell lung cancer, which has spread to my lymph nodes and liver. Doctors told me that, on average, someone with my diagnosis lives for one year, but by the grace of God, I have already exceeded that. Since my diagnosis, I have been unable to work, and every month has been a struggle just to keep up with our bills. We are making it, but just barely, and my greatest concern is for the well-being of my family. During the pandemic, I had to make difficult choices to cut costs, which meant letting go of my life insurance. Now, with my diagnosis, I am unable to get coverage, leaving my wife and son in a vulnerable position.
Four years ago, we purchased our home, hoping to build a safe and stable future together. My wife and son depend on me, and my biggest fear is leaving them with the burden of our mortgage. If the mortgage were paid off, my family would only need to manage utilities, homeowners insurance, and food, along with a limited survivor's benefit for my son. This would give them the stability and peace of mind they deserve, even after I am gone.
I'm truly embarrassed to be asking for help, but any support you can give would mean the world to us. Your generosity would ease my mind and allow me to focus on making the most of the time I have left, knowing that my family will be okay. Thank you for considering helping us keep our home and providing security for my loved ones.
