Six months ago, I moved to Houston with my 6-year-old and was grateful to find a car on Facebook Marketplace. At the time, I didn’t have any transportation, so being able to purchase this car felt like a blessing—it was so much better than walking everywhere in a new city. Unfortunately, I didn’t know there was a leak in the roof until it rained a few months later. Since then, every time it rains, water pours into the car, soaking everything inside. The constant moisture has led to mold and bugs, making it uncomfortable and even unsafe for us to use.
This car is our only way to get around Houston. Without family or support here, it’s how my child and I get to school and appointments. But now, every time it rains, we get wet inside the car, and the smell of mold is always present. I worry about our health and safety every time we have to use it. A new car would mean so much to us—it would give us reliable, safe transportation and peace of mind, knowing we’re not at risk from mold or bugs.
I’m reaching out for any support you can offer. Every little bit helps us move toward a safer, healthier future. Thank you for taking the time to read our story and for considering helping us during this challenging time.
