Help My Family Gain Justice For My Grandfather

My name is Simran Chopra. It is heartbreaking to announce the sudden death of my dear grandfather, Prem Chopra. The poor medical attention provided by PIH Health Hospital has caused his death due to negligence and racial discrimination. My family is yet to be given a medical explanation for the cause of death of my grandfather Prem, which is leaving us quite restless in our grief.
Not only did my grandfather's condition worsen very rapidly in the hospital due to ignorance, but they also injected him with a medication which caused a kidney failure due to a negative reaction. The hospital doctors did not pay close attention to my grandfather's existing medical records and did not bother to apologize for injecting him with a medication which hastened his death.
Rather, they mocked him for "breathing funny" in his last stages. The doctors made several remarks about how my grandfather was an immigrant and unable to speak English, while he had several tubes going through his nose and mouth. Although very fluent in English, my grandfather was unconscious and unable to physically speak, yet the doctors still expected a response from him and they continuously mocked him in our faces for being an immigrant and person of color.
The morning of my grandfather's death, we noticed his pulse rate was going down very fast and we begged for a doctor to check the situation. We waited 25 minutes for a doctor, and a nearby nurse told us to wait more without any hesitation. Once the doctor arrived, he unplugged the oxygen mask which was aiding my grandfather in breathing. Not only did he deprive my family of a chance to say our goodbyes, but he lacked any sense of condolence.
If the doctors had arrived earlier and provided the necessary attention towards my grandfather, he would still be here with us today. He was very healthy for his age and kept fighting for his life at PIH despite their negligence.
Our healthcare system should make us feel secure and safe. Instead, this is not the case and many families, including mine, can attest to this. Prem was a loving grandfather, father, brother, and friend. Don't let our healthcare system take away another life from us due to their lack of care and racial bias.
My grieving family would appreciate any help that could be provided during this difficult time for both funeral and legal costs. Losing a loved one is already difficult enough for any family, but it is exceedingly difficult when a family loses a loved one simply as a result of medical negligence.
