Help April and Her Family Find Safety and Rebuild

My name is April, and I am asking for help during one of the most frightening and difficult seasons my family has ever experienced.

I have always been someone who gives. I have helped family, friends, and people in need whenever I could, often giving the shirt off my back without expecting anything in return. Now I am humbly asking for help for my own family.

Recently, my family and I experienced a frightening incident involving a large group of young people who came to my home to cause havoc and destruction. During the incident, my vehicle was struck by bullets multiple times. All while my husband and I were inside the vehicle. This could have tragically ended our lives. As we were attempting to flee the scene my husband and I were maced with bear and bricks were used to destroy the front window of my vehicle.

My family and I have all been deeply affected by what happened. We no longer feel comfortable simply walking outside our home without someone accompanying us. I am afraid because people know where we live, and that fear has affected our everyday lives.

I also run a small food business from my home. Unfortunately, after everything that has happened, I am now afraid to accept new customers because I don’t feel safe having strangers come to my home. I have experienced prank orders and calls, and I am terrified that continuing to operate from my house could put my family at greater risk.

I don’t want fear to take away the way I provide for my family.

I am trying to relocate my family into a safer environment and, eventually, move my food business into a secure location where I can continue working without customers knowing where I live.

We are hoping to find a home. In a safer neighborhood. Unfortunately, relocating an entire household is expensive. There are application fees, security deposits, first month’s rent, movers, a rental truck, storage, and other costs that add up very quickly. I also have deductible expenses related to getting my vehicle repaired.

What your donations will help with:

• Rental application fees

• First month’s rent, last month’s rent and security deposit

• Movers and/or a moving truck

• Temporary storage

• Vehicle repairs

• Security-related expenses

• Licensing and setup costs for a safe location for my food business

• Initial expenses associated with moving my business out of my home

• Other emergency relocation expenses

Our goal is $15,000, which would give us the opportunity to get out of an environment where we no longer feel safe, secure a new home, and begin rebuilding our lives and my business.

I know $15,000 is a lot to ask. If you cannot donate, sharing this fundraiser means just as much. Every $5, $10, $25, $50, or prayer can help us get one step closer to safety.

I have spent so much of my life being the person who helps everyone else. It is humbling to be the one asking for help now, but I believe there is nothing wrong with reaching out when your family needs you.

We are not asking for luxury. We are asking for safety, stability, and the chance to start over without fear.
