Help My Ukrainian Family

Hello everyone,

 

My name is Nadia and I’m originally from Ukraine. I am sure many of you are already aware that there is a war happening in Ukraine right now.

I am living in Vancouver, Canada but my parents - Galina and Sergei, are still back home and I am trying to reunite with them again and help them flee the terrible war.

On 24th of February my country - Ukraine has been invaded by Russia and there is an ongoing war for 2 months now. Horrible things are happening in Ukraine, houses are being bombed, people shot, they are running out of food and I’m afraid to lose connection with them. It has been a very stressful time for my family and as Canada is letting Ukrainians come and settle here I am trying to bring my parents to live with me. At the moment we do not know if they will be staying here forever, right now the situation there is not stable and I would love to help my parents to move to a safe spot for some time. 

I work an entry level job as well as rent an apartment and not able to support all the costs that this may bring. Once they are here we will also need money for just small everyday expenses: food, transit, rent, medical assistance, etc. 
We were able to book a ticket for them for May 7th to arrive in Vancouver but we only got a one-way ticket and will need a returning one if they end up going back. They will be traveling from their hometown to Poland, then Germany and then take a plane to Vancouver, BC. 

My both parents are over 60 years old and have not had any income since the war started. I am not sure if they will be able to find a job right away plus they both were already retired back in Ukraine.

I am usually not the person to ask for anything from anyone but this helpless situation has left me no choice.
