Helping Omar’s family escape Sudan

First off, thank you so much to everyone for your donations! They have truly warmed my heart. Unfortunately, I have not been able to access any of the money as of yet due to GoFundMe.
As the background indicates, my family is currently in a war zone in Sudan. Painfully, they are now refugees and I am asking GoFundMe to please release your generous donations to help cover the cost of food, lodging and medicine.
I have had to front the majority of the expenses on my own thus far and have relocated the majority of my family outside of Khartoum. They are now in cities scattered across the country, without their belongings, food, adequate shelter and medicine.
We appreciate all of your support and ask GoFundMe to please release the funds as soon as possible. Initially, we needed the funds for transportation, but GoFundMe’s process has been complicated, so in order to preserve life, we moved who we could and others have had to stay behind and flee with friends. The situation is very bad. We need GoFundMe to release the funds so that we can provide them with the aforementioned.

Background:
Sudan is in the midst of a humanitarian crisis. Millions of people have been displaced from their homes due to conflict and violence, a result of the war that began on April 15. As you can imagine, the elderly and sick are particularly vulnerable, and many are in need of urgent medical care. This is deeply personal for me as I emigrated from Sudan to the United States in the 1980s. Like hundreds of thousands of Sudanese people living across the diaspora, I have survivor’s guilt, watching the country I was born in and love be destroyed, once again, by two greedy warlords. I am raising money to help my family, which includes my four elderly sisters, three elderly brothers, pregnant women, along with a host of nieces and nephews, escape and reach the rest of our family safely in Egypt. All funds raised here will be used to pay for two buses that will transport my family and their neighbors across the 992 dangerous miles from Khartoum to CAIRO. The bus costs $20,000 dollars (400 dollars per person) to transport 49 people, (the max # of seats).My goal is to transport our family, along with other elderly, sick and pregnant women in urgent need of medical care, in their neighborhood, out on two buses for a total of 98 people, for a total of 39,800. We will use the remaining money to buy food and water for the journey. I am asking for you to please help. I promise that 100% of donations will go directly to getting my family out and I promise to provide daily updates. Thank you for your support!
