Hello there, denizens of the internet. Most of you know me as Jazz: a community manager, livestreamer and occasional artist, when I can summon the will. It took a lot to swallow my pride to get to this point, but currently I'm sitting on very dire straights and see no other way out of the hole that my family have found ourselves in.
For context, my family owns and operates a precision machinery shop in our city. We do a lot of specialized work, and our clients are almost exclusively from government entities. Because of this, the last few years have been pretty rough for us. Every time there has been a government shutdown, it has frozen the assets of our clients, and left us high and dry, living paycheck by paycheck.
On top of that, we were forced to relocate our business twice in 2024, after the building we were renting from went to new ownership and nullified all their tenant's rental agreements. We are currently in a legal battle with the first place that we relocated to, as the owners misled us into thinking that they could handle the electrical requirements that we need for our machines to work, only to suggest that we relocate after we had taken the time and effort to move in. Moving machinery that weighs thousands of pounds requires special equipment and labor to relocate safely, and thus we were really put in a pinch because of it. We unfortunately never really bounced back from that hit, and when the government shutdown in 2025 happened, we were left without work for 5 months straight. We were going to food banks just to eat, and taking out loans and maxing out credit cards just to pay for basic utilities.
Now, we have found ourselves at this point, where our landlord is forcing us out at the top of next week (Feb 16th). We have been scrambling to move things off of our property, on top of looking for a new place to go to, but the truth is that we can't afford to go anywhere. Because when it rains, it seriously pours. Just last week, our only functional car broke down, and we had to get the starter replaced, while renting a car to go to and from work. This has thrown a huge wrench into our plans, and we're currently weighing our options.
We have exhausted every possibility for help that has been suggested to us; every agency in the state that offers rent assistance has told us that they are out of funds and that they cannot help us. Thus, I am turning to you to ask for help. Your support would go towards helping us secure a deposit for a new rental property, alongside covering moving expenses, which I'm estimating would require around $5k in total. My parents are both at an age where they cannot do much physical labor, and my brother and I can only do so much. It would mean the world to help us find a roof over our heads, or at the very least to help us relocate our possessions to offsite storage while we seek emergency shelter.
Regardless of the outcome, this will hopefully explain why I've had less of a presence online in recent months, and why I haven't streamed since Christmas. It's been very difficult for me to soldier on and try to find some kind of wiggle room to make it through without going to others to help; I know just how difficult it is for everyone out there, and it pains me to even consider receiving funds from others who have worked so hard to earn their keep. I only come at the behest of my peers, who have nudged me to do this, so please understand that I am in no way trying to get a free ride. But at this point, I am absolutely at the end of my rope.
We are truly grateful for any help you can offer. Understand that there is no obligation to contribute; even sharing my story will make a difference. Knowing that there are people out there who care means everything to us. Any support, no matter the amount, will be monumental and help ensure that we do not end up on the street. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for considering our situation and for any kindness you can share, and here's to hoping that I can reciprocate the gesture in the future. <3
