My mother’s battle with cancer has shaped so much of my life. In 2018, she was diagnosed with Stage 4 bladder cancer, and through intense chemotherapy and radiation, she made a remarkable recovery. We were so grateful for her strength and the support we received. Unfortunately, in October of this year, her cancer returned. This time, due to her previous treatments, there are no options left to fight it. While it’s not currently in a fatal stage, she is in a lot of pain, and my focus is on making her as comfortable as possible.
Caring for my mother has meant taking significant time off work. As a result, I’ve fallen behind on rent and utilities, and I recently received a 7-day eviction notice. On top of this, my wife was unfaithful and has left, leaving me to care for my daughter and mother alone. My daughter is still in school, and I am doing everything I can to keep our family together and provide for them emotionally and financially. Despite reaching out to state and city organizations, I’ve been denied assistance because I work and earn above the qualifying threshold. The cost of living is overwhelming, and I am struggling to keep up.
I am not the type to ask for help, but I am now at a loss and don’t know what to do. None of my family is able to help as they all have their own financial struggles. I would be so grateful if anyone is able to provide any assistance. It’s not just about me, but about my daughter not having to go through a life-changing event of being homeless. She doesn’t deserve that, and I feel responsible. I am at my lowest point and am begging for help. Any support you can offer would mean the world to us.
