I am reaching out because I am facing a difficult and unexpected situation with my housing. The San Joaquin Housing Authority terminated my housing voucher without notifying me, even though I continued to pay my portion of the rent each month. Unbeknownst to me, they stopped paying their share, which resulted in a large amount of back rent that I am now responsible for. When I learned about the termination, I was shocked and overwhelmed. I immediately contacted the Housing Authority, and after a long process, my voucher was reinstated. However, they are refusing to pay the back rent that accumulated during the time my voucher was inactive. This has left me in a very stressful position, as I am now facing the possibility of eviction despite doing everything I could to stay current on my rent. Receiving support through this fundraiser will help me and my children avoid eviction and stay in our home while I work to resolve this situation.
