Help My Family After Home Burglary

My mom became a victim of a home robbery on Wednesday, February 10.  With my sister and I away at school, she lives by herself. This has shaken her sense of security and confidence in living in our home of 12 years.  My mom works long hours almost everyday and came home to disarray and chaos. This robbery in one night has taken away the rewards of many years of hard work. I came home a couple of hours later to her still in shock and disbelief. The robber(s) went through all the rooms and took all of the cash that were the majority of my mom's emergency funds and savings as well as jewelry that are culturally and sentimentally important.

My house was the 5th target in the past month of home invasions within just a 1 mile radius of Southwest Guilford Schools. It is assumed that the robber(s) have been watching different neighborhoods and targeting either a certain demographic (Asian people) or those that are away from their homes for long periods of time due to work. The High Point Police are investigating, but we don't expect much out of it since the cash and jewelry are not sufficiently covered by our home owner's insurance.

If you know any friends or family that live near Southwest Guilford Schools, please alert them that the robber(s) are very thorough; they have been targeting cash, jewelry, and safes. My mom is a first generation Asian American and would keep large amounts of cash at home. If your parents are anything like mine, please let them know not to keep items of monetary value at home for long periods of time and make sure they have security systems in place. 


Over $30,000 worth of valuables were stolen, however our goal of $5,000 would go towards purchasing a glass door replacement, a security system and replacing a portion of my mom's savings. My mom is continuing to work to keep herself distracted. She is trying to recoup the lost money and these funds would help lighten her load.
