Help My English Class Read The 57 Bus

Goal: $1,000 to buy copies of The 57 Bus by Dashka Slater for every student

Hi! My name is Stella Fielder, and I’m a Freshman at Ventura High School (VHS). My English teacher, Dr. Mainz, wants all of her classes to read The 57 Bus: A True Story of Two Teenagers and the Crime That Changed Their Lives by Dashka Slater — a true story about empathy, identity, and justice. It’s an amazing book that sparks important conversations, but our school doesn’t have enough copies for everyone.

I’m starting this fundraiser to help make sure each student gets their own book so we can all read and learn together. My goal is $1,000, which will cover about 40–50 copies of the book.
