Our beautiful 6-year-old girl Lexi was due for surgery on 7th November 2025 to repair her cruciate ligament (CCL) and luxating patella on the same leg — surgery she had already been waiting a full year for, due to the financial strain.

When she first had trouble with her leg, x-rays revealed something no one expected — a huge amount of bladder stones that had been perforating her bladder lining and causing serious internal damage. It was life-threatening, so we had to prioritise emergency bladder surgery first.

Thankfully, Lexi’s bladder surgery was a success, and we are 8 weeks in of recovery she was doing amazingly well. The vets wanted to move ahead with her leg surgery quickly, as her muscle mass had deteriorated, and her right leg was overcompensating to keep her body stable.

Then, just two days before her scheduled surgery 7/11/2025, tragedy struck again. Lexi got a little burst of energy and tried to play — but her right leg suddenly gave way, and she slipped on the laminate floor. Screaming in pain, we rushed her to the vets, where x-rays confirmed the worst — she had ruptured her other cruciate ligament.

Her surgery has been cancelled, as she is not strong enough. Now both of her hind legs are damaged. She has almost no strength left in her back legs, is struggling to stand, walk, or toilet, and her quality of life is fading fast.

We are now facing another 3 major surgeries (both hind CCL and grade 4 luxating patella in her left leg also.

Just 8 weeks after her bladder surgery, it’s pushed us beyond our financial limits. With no insurance payouts to help, every cost has fallen on us — but we simply can’t leave our baby to suffer.

I’m doing everything I can to care for her, even though I have spinal issues, i am carrying and supporting her every day is becoming increasingly difficult.
