Help Needed for My Dog’s Surgery – My Companion of 10 Years

Yesterday, I had to make one of the hardest but most necessary decisions: my 10-year-old dog needed surgery for a torn ligament. It was urgent so she could walk again without pain, and although I tried to avoid it, there was no other option if I wanted to give her the quality of life she deserves.

The surgery cost €2,122, plus €122 for the initial vet visit. I had to cover everything with the last of my savings, and now I’m in the negative financially. That’s why I’m turning to this campaign—with the hope of recovering at least part of the cost and gaining a bit of stability.

She came into my life when she was just a 4-month-old puppy. Since then, she’s been my constant companion, giving me love, joy, and a reason to smile even on the hardest days. Even at 10 years old, she’s still playful, sweet, and full of life.

Unfortunately, due to her age, German pet insurance companies have refused to cover the costs. They see older dogs as more likely to need surgeries, making them not “worth it” to insure. But to me, she’s not a number—she’s family.

Ayuda para la operación de mi perrita: compañera de vida desde hace 10 años

Ayer tuve que tomar una de las decisiones más difíciles pero necesarias: operar a mi perrita de 10 años por una rotura de ligamento. La cirugía era urgente para que pudiera volver a caminar sin dolor, y aunque hice todo lo posible por evitarlo, no había otra opción si quería darle la calidad de vida que merece.

La operación costó 2.122€, más 122€ adicionales por la visita veterinaria previa. Tuve que cubrir todo con los ahorros que me quedaban, y ahora mismo me encuentro en números rojos. Por eso recurro a esta campaña, con la esperanza de poder recuperar al menos una parte del coste y poder estabilizarme un poco económicamente.

Ella llegó a mi vida cuando era apenas una cachorra de 4 meses. Desde entonces ha sido mi compañera inseparable, dándome amor, alegría y una razón para sonreír incluso en los días más difíciles. A sus 10 años sigue siendo una perrita alegre, juguetona y muy cariñosa.

Lamentablemente, debido a su edad, los seguros veterinarios en Alemania se han negado a cubrir los gastos. Consideran que los perros mayores tienen más probabilidades de necesitar operaciones, y eso los hace no “rentables” para ellos. Pero para mí, ella no es una cifra: es parte de mi familia.

Cualquier ayuda, por pequeña que sea, significa muchísimo para nosotras. Y si no puedes colaborar económicamente, compartir esta campaña también es una gran ayuda.
