My girlfriend Angelina and her family are in need of a bit of help at the moment. Last year in winter, Angie found out she had a brain tumor and underwent a highly intrusive brain surgery to remove it. The tumor was on her cerebellum cortex which controls movement. The surgery went wrong and as a result, she now has ataxia and cerebella mutism, meaning she can't speak or walk. She was in hospital for 8 months. She is relearning to walk and talk with therapy however hasn't been able to complete every week for medical reasons/due to lack of support. She is currently in a wheelchair which we carry up and down the stairs in her house for movement. She communicates through typing on her phone. Her mother is her primary care-giver who looks after her and her 6 year old brother and therefore cannot sustain a job of her own. The family are now struggling to pay rent and are in fear of being evicted from their rental. NDIS will not cover rental and Centerlink has taken over 4 months to register and start providing funding. Although they are trying to find a new wheelchair accessible apartment that is safe, they have not got a wheelchair accessible backup if they are evicted.
Money donated would go towards rent until Centerlink pulls through, food, new rehab or accessibility equipment for Angie and more private therapy for her recovery. NDIS and Centerlink are very unreliable so a little extra money would benefit them a lot and give a stable ground for Angie to recover on. Please help my partners family.
