Yesterday morning, my daughter and her family experienced an unimaginable tragedy when a house fire destroyed their home, all of their belongings, and most of their beloved pets. In a matter of moments, this family of five lost everything they had worked so hard for. The fire left them with nothing but the clothes on their backs, and the heartbreak of losing their cherished pets has been overwhelming. Thankfully, two of their dogs survived, bringing a small bit of hope to this difficult time.

The timing of this loss is especially difficult, as it comes just before Christmas. My 10-year-old grandson had to run out of the house with only his pajamas, no shoes, and no coat. All of his Christmas gifts were destroyed in the fire. An elderly woman in the family, who is bed-bound and requires special medical and personal supplies, also lost everything she needs for daily care. The family now faces extra expenses for fuel, temporary housing, and replacing the essentials that make a home.
