My daughter Audrey had a cardiac arrest at school in 2021. She has a heart condition that can cause her to have a cardiac arrest when she is stressed. Later that year we were able to get her a service dog to help her at school. Her dog Sibley has been her best friend ever since. This week she has been sick, and when we took her to her vet they referred us to a specialist. Sibley needs an emergency surgery to save her life that costs $10,000. My husband and I are both public school teachers, and Audrey and her little brother have the same genetic heart condition that causes medical bills of its own. If anyone is able to help in any way, we would appreciate it.
Update: Thanks for all of your help! They don’t know what caused Sibley to get sick, but she had a lot of vomiting and diarrhea from it that caused her to get dehydrated. The gas buildup from it was so great that it had no where to go. The gas itself was acting like an obstruction and would have led to something dire if we hadn’t brought her in. They are continuing her on fluids and medication to see about surgery and will update us at noon on 3/2/24. Thank you again for all of your support for Sibley and Audrey!
