Help my daughter to live in their father's arms
Donation protected
In the ruins of Gaza, Motaz Al-Shawa, a journalist and humanitarian activist, fights for his survival. Every day, he thinks of his little daughter and his wife, their found refuge in Belgium.
Their daughter, who lights up their lives like the moon, has only known the security of Belgium. But her father never got to see her first laugh, her first tooth or her first steps. When she first came to Gaza to see his father and celebrate with him in her first birthday, Haneen (her mother) had prepared decorations, pink balloons, and a beautiful unicorn dress with wings.
He just wanted to be happy and be able to compensate the deprivation year who lived without her daughter, but what should have been a memorable moment in their lives turned into a nightmare.
A birthday song turned into the sound of bombings. A beautiful dress is transformed into a pile of dust, and the taste and smell of a pretty birthday cake is transformed into the odor of a decomposing body.
Motaz, in despair, looks at the photo of his family, dreaming of joining them and erasing the nightmares he has seen.
Their home in Gaza was destroyed by bombardment, and eighteen members of Motaz's family were killed, including his parents, his brothers, their wives and children, as well as his sister and her children. Faced with this unbearable situation, Motaz begged for Haneen and their daughter to leave Gaza before the war killed them, as it killed his family. Motaz lived in a dilapidated tent in Rafah before having to flee once again, now he has nothing, not even a tent to sleep in. Fighting against disease and hunger. His heart is heavy with the pain of loss and separation. He lost more than 35 kg and suffers from dehydration and many intestinal problems.
Meanwhile, in Belgium, Haneen Alsbaihii is also fighting. She left Gaza to provide a safe life for their daughter, hoping that Motaz could join them by using the family reunification visa he had obtained. But the war prevents Motaz from traveling, and the visa expired in March 2024. Haneen lives in anguish, praying every day for her husband's survival under the incessant attacks
Their daughter, so young, deeply feels the absence of her father. She dreams of touching his face, of feeling his protective arms around her. Since October 7, even phone calls have been impossible due to the almost non-existent connection in Gaza. The separation is unbearable, and Haneen mobilizes all her resources to get her husband out of Gaza.
but the travel costs are exorbitant, Haneen cannot raise on her own. She had to stop working to care for their daughter, and the expenses were piling up. Yet she doesn't give up. She appeals for solidarity, hoping that every donation, even small, can bring Motaz closer to safety and allow their daughter to finally live in her father's arm
The funds collected will be paid directly to Motaz, so that he can feed himself in Gaza, pay their essential needs, make place for living till he can travel, go to the doctor to do the necessary examination, and finance his trip so that he can leave Gaza and join his family in Belgium. Their dream is simple: to live together, in safety, far from the horrors of war. Haneen and Motaz know that times are difficult for everyone, but they hope that generosity and solidarity can bring their family together and give their daughter the life she deserves, surrounded by the love of both parents.
