My name is Wayne, and I’m reaching out on behalf of my daughter, who has been through an incredibly tough year. Last year, she broke her jaw but continued working, not realizing the extent of her injury until the pain became unbearable. A scan revealed her jaw was broken in two places. Since then, she’s been diagnosed with Total Degenerative Joint Disease, loss of the Condylar head, and complete Temporomandibular Joint Dysfunction. She now faces two more surgeries to replace her jaw joints with titanium.

This journey has been extremely difficult for her and her husband. She’s lost a lot of weight because she can’t currently open her jaw wide enough to eat normally, but she pushes through it all without complaining and with a smile on her face. The stress has affected our whole family. Despite everything, she’s been overworking herself and even selling her personal items just to keep up with bills from her first surgery. The costs of doctor appointments, copays, physical therapy, and equipment have become overwhelming, and things are likely to get harder before they get better. Her next surgery is coming up soon, and she’ll need to relearn how to use her jaw, eat, and talk.
