On the morning of January 8, 2026, a fire at the Waterside at Ironbridge apartment community displaced multiple residents. Although the fire occurred in an adjacent unit, the damage resulted in a total loss for my daughter’s apartment once again. This is the second apartment fire she has experienced in the last few years, and at 29 years old, having to start completely over—again—is incredibly hard. She had just celebrated her birthday on January 1st and was hopeful about the year ahead. Right now, she’s overwhelmed and heartbroken, trying to process the shock of losing her home and the life she was actively building.
She works remotely from home and was also just beginning to pursue a DJ career—something she saved for and invested heavily in. Much of her DJ equipment was newly purchased and represented more than belongings; it was her passion, her creative outlet, and a future she was working toward. Losing the tools she relied on to work and create has been especially devastating. She works two jobs, lives modestly, and rarely asks for help. She is currently staying with family and caring for her cat while trying to regain stability after such a sudden loss.
This fundraiser is meant to help her replace essential items, basic work tools, and foundational DJ equipment so she can begin rebuilding after a very difficult start to the year. We are deeply grateful to the American Red Cross for being on site and providing immediate support and care during such a traumatic moment. Because this fire affected multiple households, I am also working to help gather and share recovery resources for other displaced residents in the Waterside community so support can reach as many people as possible. Any support—whether through donations, wish list items, sharing resources, or simply sharing this page—is deeply appreciated.
